Choose what teem tells you about

Three kinds of notification, two channels, set independently.

Settings → Notifications controls what reaches your team and where. There are three things teem can tell you about and two places it can tell you.

The three

  • A new conversation: somebody opened the widget and asked a question.
  • A bug report: somebody used Report a bug.
  • A feature request: somebody posted to the board.

The two channels

Email is yours alone. Each person on the team picks their own, and nobody else's choices change yours. You start with bug reports and feature requests on, and new conversations off.

Slack goes to the channel you connected, applies to the whole team, and only an owner can change it. All three start on.

They are set separately, so every combination works. A common setup is Slack for everything and email only for bug reports, so the noise lives in a channel and the things you cannot miss reach your inbox.

If you have not connected Slack, only the email column applies.

What one email covers

teem emails you once per conversation, for its first message. Follow-ups in the same conversation don't send another; they show up in your inbox and in its Slack thread. A conversation only counts once the person has given a name and email, so an anonymous first message emails you when they do.

Turning something off does not lose it

A conversation you were not notified about still appears in your inbox and still counts as unread. Notifications decide what interrupts you, not what teem keeps.

Notifications to your users

Those are separate and not configurable. teem emails a person when you reply and they have not read it in the widget, and every reply email carries a link to stop emails about that conversation. It also emails everyone who voted for a request when its status changes or a changelog entry ships it.

Owners also get an email if Slack stops accepting teem's messages, whatever these settings say. Why didn't my Slack reply post? covers the fixes.
